Bad Motherboard

By: Amanda P. Wednesday, January 06, 2016

Pros: None Cons: Shortly after installing a hard drive, optical drive, and Windows this system started throwing random blue screens. After hours of fruitless troubleshooting, including replacing the RAM that came with the system, removing the wireless card that came with it, and trying a different hard drive than the one I purchased separately, I've come to the conclusion the motherboard is bad. It might be simply bad luck, but since the warranty is no longer valid I'm left with a barebones kit that has been a complete waste of time and money.

Great Buy

Pros: Quality throughout. I used to buy all the parts separately for workstation builds for clients. This Barebones unit not only saved me a lot of time but was incredible well built (clean wire maint) and fast. Cons: Wire harness tied in cd rom area. not a big deal just one extra step during build.

Pros: Quality throughout. I used to buy all the parts separately for workstation builds for clients. This Barebones unit not only saved me a lot of time but was incredible well built (clean wire maint) and fast. Cons: Some of the wires are zip stripped into the CD rom area. Not a big deal to un do. However 1 less step is always appreciated. Other Thoughts: I would suggest this unit to anyone looking for a low cost high speed barebones PC.

Pleasantly Surprised

This barebones system is a great deal. Installed a HD with no issues. Loaded Windows 7 and drivers via external USB DVD ROM without issue. Ran Windows Experience Index, processor scored a 7.3, RAM scored a 7.3, Graphics 5.1, Gaming Graphics 6.5. RAM is a 1 8GB stick which leaves a slot free to add more if needed. Also has VGA, DVI and HDMI video connections. I did not like the way the wiring was ran from the power supply. Might have to rerun it if I decide to add an internal DVD drive. Also, the power supply does not have a kill switch. The main power button is too well hidden - might be hard to find for some people, others may like this. Overall, I am very pleased with this system. From unboxing to OS running took little over an hour.

Great Product

Pros: Nice size tower, Very quiet little powerhouse. We ordered about 40 of these in the last few months and have no problems, and they work well for our moderate to heavy users. (Digital Media Arts students). Cons: Didn't need the wireless NIC that came included, though that's not a problem. The only negative feedback I've received is about the Power/restart buttons being difficult to find if you have your tower font turned away from you.
